The nonsense of some biofuels
Those of you who attended Gina Moseley's lecture will have seen the contrast between Borneo as it was and as it is now, with its ancient forests being replaced by chemical-dependent palm oil plantations.
Two recent web articles show up the nonsense of felling tropical rain forests to grow palm for biofuel production. One of these details the danger posed to the environment by certain types of biofuel, the worst of which can emit twenty times more greenhouse gases than fossil fuels. The second points out the failure to account for the environmental impact of indirect land use change
