Those of you who attended our last lecture of the season may be interested to know that Don Walsh has just been in Washington DC for a week. Apparently every day was filled with events celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Trieste's deepest dive.  At a special evening reception at the National Geographic Society they awarded Don with their highest honor, The Hubbard Medal and they apologized for not doing it 50 years ago.   Then the Undersecretary of the Navy presented him with their Navy Distinguished Public Service Medal. 

Earlier in the day, there was a reception at the U.S. capital where Don was given a Congressional Resolution, all framed and signed, commending what he and his colleagues achieved a half century ago.
