As I write, labels are being stuck onto envelopes and brochures are being stuffed inside. As soon as this process is complete, I will update the ticket prices on our website and tickets will be on sale at Stanfords and online.

Meanwhile, details of all the talks are on the site so please have a look through What's On and put the relevant dates in your diaries.

For years, Steve Berry has been trying to pursuade an astronaut to deliver a talk in our Wilderness Series. So far he's failed but he's organised a practice run in his home village in aid of the village tennis club.

Between 1968 and 1972, nine spaceships traveled to The Moon and, in total, 24 brave men made these amazing journeys. Out of those 9 missions, 6 made successful landings. This talk will give you an insight these fantastic journeys. It's being delivered by Richard Philips, who has had a fascination with the Apollo programme since he was 10.

The talk is taking place in Hawkesbury Upton Village Hall Saturday 18th September 2010. Doors open 7.00, lecture starts 7.30

Ticket price: £7.50 incl. spaceman supper (moon rocks and green cheese).
An increasing number of people don't have a basic geographical notion of the British Isles. Blame it on a decline of formal geography teaching, or Sat-Nav and other 'A-Z and nothing in between' devices that make us lazy. 'Never Eat Shredded Wheat' is a timely and entertaining reminder of all the fascinating British geography that brings our islands vividly to life – geography we have forgotten or perhaps never even knew.

Christopher Somerville is a prolific writer having written over 30 books including the bestselling 'Coast' books based on the BBC hit series.

Tickets £5.00 and includes a glass of wine or fruit juice. Tickets should be reserved in advance from Stanfords, 29 Corn St, Bristol BS1 1HT, T:0117 9299966 stanfordsbristol@gmail.com

Original post blogged on b2evolution.
