Gavin Newman

Gavin is a cameraman and photographer working extensively with the BBC, Discovery and National Geographic. He specializes in environmental and adventure subjects, particularly underwater, underground and other 'hostile' environments. As well as working with conventional filming equipment Gavin has also designed and built many specialist camera systems including underwater and airborne robotic systems.
Gavin was born in London where he gained a degree in Photography Film and Television, but since then has been based in Bristol and Somerset. His first film, 'Wookey Exposed' won the best adventure film award at the Kendal Film Festival and led to filming caves for the BBC’s groundbreaking Planet Earth series. Work on numerous other BBC and Nat Geo productions amongst others culminated in an Emmy for Cinematography for the BBC’s Wild China series.
More recently, Gavin has moved into documenting the eye-opening world of ultra high-end tourism and environmental philanthropy, gaining an insight into both the opportunities and issues afforded to those with unlimited wealth.
